Our Story

We Built VitalNadi for Indian Families

A privacy-first health and insurance companion designed for the messy, beautiful reality of running a multi-generational Indian household.

A health emergency should not become a paperwork emergency

VitalNadi started with a simple, painful observation: when a health emergency hits an Indian family, the hardest part is rarely the medical decision. It is the paperwork. Somewhere in a drawer is the insurance policy โ€” but which drawer? The latest blood test report โ€” was it 3 months ago or 6? The doctor's prescription from the last visit โ€” was it printed or only on the phone that just ran out of battery? When a parent is hospitalized at 2 AM, no one should be wasting 30 minutes hunting for a PDF.

We watched families we love go through this. We lived through it ourselves. And we realized the tools that exist today are built either for hospitals (too complex, too clinical) or for Western households (no insurance renewal tracking, no multi-generational profiles, no offline-first design). Indian families need something different โ€” something built for how we actually live.

So we built VitalNadi. Not as a side project, but as the tool we wished existed when our own families needed it.

The Problem

What we saw, again and again

๐Ÿ“

Scattered Documents

Lab reports in WhatsApp, prescriptions in a camera roll, discharge summaries in a drawer, policy PDFs in an email from 3 years ago. No single source of truth.

โฐ

Missed Renewals

Health insurance lapses because no one remembered the renewal date. Premium spikes. Pre-existing conditions reset. Years of accumulated coverage vanish over a forgotten notification.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง

No Family View

Apps track one user. But Indian families manage parents, spouse, kids, sometimes in-laws โ€” each with their own BP trend, sugar history, and doctor list.

๐Ÿ’ธ

No Expense Trail

At tax time, no one remembers how much was spent on doctor visits, medicines, or tests. Reimbursements from insurance or employer FSA go unclaimed.

๐Ÿ”’

Privacy Anxiety

Existing health apps require accounts, sync to cloud servers, and have vague privacy policies. People do not want their parents' medical history on a server they do not control.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

Built for the Wrong Market

Western health apps assume a single doctor, no insurance complexity, and constant internet. Indian reality: multiple specialists, many insurers, patchy connectivity.

Give every Indian family a calm, private command center for their health

Our mission is simple to say, hard to do: build a single, private, offline-first app where an entire Indian family's health and insurance life lives โ€” vitals, records, doctors, policies, expenses, all of it โ€” and where the data never leaves the family's control.

We measure success not by daily active users or ad impressions, but by whether a family that uses VitalNadi for a year feels calmer, more prepared, and more in control of their health and financial safety than they did before. If the answer is yes, we have done our job. If not, we keep building.

We are committed to three non-negotiables: privacy by default (no cloud sync without explicit opt-in), free for core use (no paywall on essential features), and built for India (offline-first, low-end Android friendly, multilingual roadmap).

Your family's health data is yours. Period.

Privacy is not a feature we added later โ€” it is the architecture we started with. VitalNadi does not require an account. Your BP readings, prescriptions, lab reports, and insurance documents live on your device, encrypted with a key only you hold. There is no VitalNadi cloud that holds your data. There is no dashboard on our side showing what conditions your family has.

We do not sell your data to insurers, advertisers, or data brokers. We do not share it with hospitals or doctors unless you explicitly export and share a report yourself. The only data we collect is anonymous usage statistics โ€” and only if you opt in. Even those statistics cannot be traced back to you.

When you want a backup, VitalNadi exports an encrypted file. You choose where to save it โ€” your own Google Drive, an SD card, a USB stick. You hold the encryption key. We cannot read your backup even if we wanted to. That is by design.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Local-First

Data lives on your device by default.

๐Ÿ”‘ You Hold the Key

Encrypted backups are keyed to you, not us.

๐Ÿšซ No Selling

We never sell or share health data. Ever.

๐Ÿ”“ Open About Tracking

Only anonymous stats, only if you opt in.

Built For Families

One app, every generation

VitalNadi is not a personal health app that tolerates a second user. It is built around the family unit from day one.

๐Ÿง“

For Elderly Parents

Track BP, sugar, medications. Store cardiologist reports. Get vaccine reminders. Manage their insurance policies and renewal dates on their behalf.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ

For Spouse

Separate vitals history, prescriptions, gynecology records. Both partners can manage the same family unit, switch profiles instantly.

๐Ÿง’

For Kids

Vaccination schedule, growth charts, pediatrician visit history, school medical forms โ€” all in one profile that grows with them.

๐Ÿค

For Caregivers

An adult child managing parents in another city. A spouse post-surgery. VitalNadi lets you be the family's health admin without taking over their identity.

Compared to other health apps

Most health apps on the Play Store fall into one of three buckets: fitness trackers (step counting, calories โ€” useful but surface-level), symptom checkers (good for anxiety, bad for actual records), or hospital portals (locked to one hospital, useless the moment you switch doctors). VitalNadi is none of these. It is a records-first, family-first, insurance-aware companion built specifically for the Indian household context.
